Lucideon is pleased to announce that it has received UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service) accreditation for its ISO 50001 certification service
This new energy management standard, ISO 50001 provides a framework and guidance for monitoring, managing and potentially reducing energy consumption. In identifying energy sources and their usage, it also helps organizations to limit future risk, define alternative sources and potentially reduce their carbon footprint.
Lucideon was on UKAS’ pilot assessment programme for accreditation of certification to ISO 50001 and, since the new standard was introduced, has carried out many certifications around the world, including the certification of DECC’s (Department of Energy & Climate Change) Energy Management System (EnMS).
Tim Watts, CMIOSH, Operations Manager, Assurance, at Lucideon, says:
“Energy is such a huge cost for organizations these days that managing it through a dedicated management system can only bring benefits. And having UKAS-accredited certification means that the EnMS is not only valid but that it can also be maintained and monitored effectively, leading to continuous improvement.
“Thanks to the sustainability assurance side of our business, Lucideon already has specialist auditors who have extensive knowledge of energy-intensive industries and of the environment, something which has a positive effect on how we work with clients.”
For the 7,500 companies captured by the upcoming ESOS (Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme), Lucideon certification to ISO 50001 will enable companies to meet ESOS scheme requirements.
Lucideon has produced a guide to ISO 50001 which can be downloaded on the right of this page.
