As a materials consultancy, Lucideon regularly works across a broad range of applications. We work in ceramics, polymers and geopolymers, metals, and composites – we're prepared to work with whatever is needed to solve a materials issue. This flexibility means that we have room for a diverse range of materials specialists, capable of collaborating in novel and atypical contexts if required.

Lucideon looks to form lasting partnerships, benefiting our clients as we increase both our and their understanding of their products and applications. Integral to this is our ability to assist at any stage of production, using our dedicated pilot scale facilities to scale up from pilot scale testing to process scale thus enabling a smooth transition from lab to manufacture. The AMRICC Centre is a unique facility, co-located with Lucideon in North Staffordshire, which will help enable companies to move faster and more efficiently from innovative ideas to commercial products. One of AMRICC's founding purposes is to train the next generation of material scientists by developing new skills and talent in conjunction with key university partners for apprentice, undergraduate, and postgraduate students. We apply our testing, analysis & evaluation results across a broad variety of contexts, including gaining regulatory approval, identifying and rectifying product failures, and ensuring that the product meets QA / QC requirements. Lucideon CICS provides global expertise in assurance – our verification and certification services. We cover a range of GHG and sustainability schemes, such as the UK/EU Emissions Trading Scheme, CDP (formerly the Carbon Disclosure Project), GRESB , SECR, GRI and OFGEM as examples. We provide impartial management system certifications such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO45001, ISO 50001, and BES 6001.

Organising and structuring our outgoings to match up with our expected income, providing timely and accurate business-crucial information to key decision makers, and maintaining close contact and relationships with other departments are some of our Finance team’s most essential tasks, ensuring that we manage a steady cash flow which is the lifeblood of any business.

Our Finance team is also involved in scoping, implementing, and testing new financial systems, stretching across our sites and sectors. They work with auditors and create systems to track and control new and early-stage businesses and investments.

We regularly conduct employee engagement surveys, and incorporate the feedback appropriately. Our team provides many of the resources required to enable our technical staff to perform their roles, and also supports our research activities that enable the expansion of our services into new areas and applications. Through Information Services, we provide an enquiry and expert search service  to answer technical queries and support effective research for both internal and external customers.

We promote all aspects of information literacy, and manage the Lucideon Library & Learning Zone at our site in Stone, along with its digital equivalent in our online resources area. The team supports Lucideon’s ceramics training programmes and manages the Lucideon ceramic whitewares and refractories training portfolio, including webinar sessions, onsite training, and company-tailored training courses. We also publish industry-focused bulletins, including the preeminent World Ceramic Abstracts, keeping colleagues and Technology Partners up to date.

Working in Information Services requires a curious mind, a proactive outlook, self-motivation, and excellent communication and/or interpersonal skills. Good organisational skills are also valued, as is the ability to rapidly assess the quality and usefulness of technical publications. In return, the variety of working across multiple industries and the wide range of internal and external customers will ensure that your role is both satisfying and rewarding.

In addition to the regular duties required to keep Lucideon working smoothly such as database and systems administration, our team undertakes projects such as the acquisition of business-critical security certifications, and delivery of time-sensitive software and/or hardware operations and projects.

In Marketing you will be representing the company’s “shop window” and you’ll need to be a person who thrives managing relationships with others, at all levels both internally and externally.

Adaptability and the ability to deal with ambiguity are key, and you will also need to be a strong self-starter to respond to both internal and customer needs. Creativity, analytical skills, and drive will all be needed as all roles cover a great variety of tasks from preparing and giving technical marketing pitches, to writing social media posts, to business case preparation.

The sales team’s role is to take challenges and work with our dedicated technical and delivery teams to propose high impact solutions. This makes us the first call when our current and prospective clients have material science issues.

To find success in our sales team you’ll need to be energetic, and goal driven. This enables you to enjoy meeting and dealing with clients, to demonstrate excellent sales process, and to be capable of working collaboratively with our technical team.

It’s certainly not used car sales at Lucideon. Typically, our sales team have spent time in their careers in the laboratory but found that they enjoy dealing with people or clients more – or simply want to step away from the technical. At Lucideon you can retain and leverage the technical background that you worked hard for and change your path towards a new and fulfilling direction.

The Structures team at Lucideon is a multi-disciplinary team of scientists, engineers, technicians, and commercial analysts that works with consultancies, contractors, product manufacturers, local government, guarantee providers, and facilities management companies, backed up by our multifaceted consultancy, testing, and R&D capabilities. We work with clients throughout the lifecycle of their products, systems, and buildings, from developing new materials and laboratory testing, to factory production control and on-site investigations.

You’ll be working on projects that keep balustrades secure for consumers, secure homes against frost, and even work at the cutting edge of modular housing.
