Water Absorption of Ceramic Tiles - Test Method - BS EN ISO 10545-3:1997

Title

Ceramic tiles. Determination of water absorption, apparent porosity, apparent relative density and bulk density.

Overview

This test procedure requires the impregnation of dry tiles with water. Boiling or vacuum methods of impregnation can be used.

Boiling will impregnate open pores that are easily fillable.

The vacuum method fills almost all the open pores.

Water absorption is determined in order to classify tiles.
