Impingement Wear Testing - Test Methods

With two, six station hip simulators and the capability to design fixtures for specimens of any implant geometry; our Wear Test lab provides data essential for evaluation of wear under impingement conditions.

Overview

Determination of wear based on impingement of the hip stem with the acetabular liner throughout the movement profile. Wear is measured gravimetrically throughout the test to calculate wear as a function of time.

Form of Results

The results will be reported as a wear rate per number of cycles. The number of cycles at which wear measurements are taken can be specified by the client. Further analysis can be performed on the wear particles according to ISO 17853.
