Dimensions and Surface Quality of Ceramic Tiles - Test Method

Dimensions and Surface Quality of Ceramic Tiles - Test Method - BS EN ISO 10545-2:1997

Title

Ceramic tiles. Determination of dimensions and surface quality.

Overview

Dimensional characteristics (length, width, thickness, straightness of sides, rectangularity) are determined as described in this standard using various procedures.

For surface quality the tiles are placed, with the proper surface under observation, so that they can be viewed perpendicularly to the surface at a set distance and light intensity and viewed for defects with the naked eye.

Defects include cracks, crazing, dry spots, unevenness, pinholes, glaze devitrification, specks or spots, chips, blisters and rough edges.
