Sir Gavin Williamson, MP for Stone, Great Wyrley and Penkridge, last week arrived at the Lucideon site in Stone, UK to visit The AMRICC Centre, the open-access international centre of excellence for advanced ceramics
During the visit, Sir Gavin had the opportunity to see the AMRICC Centre's state-of-the-art equipment, discuss the future of ceramics, and understand its significance for Stone.
As part of this, Lucideon CEO Tony Kinsella showcased some of the Lucideon facilities on site, illustrating the significant role that ceramics play in not only day-to-day life but also in the pathways to improved material technologies for the future.
The centre is the physical legacy of the Midlands Industrial Ceramics Group's £18.27 million four-year research programme, funded by Government under UK Research and Innovation's flagship Strength in Places Fund.
Sir Gavin stated: “I was rather impressed to see the cutting-edge technology and innovation happening at AMRICC. The team's dedication to advancing material science and supporting local businesses is a tremendous asset to Stone, the wider Staffordshire community, and the UK as a whole.
"It is truly inspiring to see how their work is not only driving the future of ceramics but also creating real economic value and opportunities internationally, with benefits for the region in both supply chain and reputation."
