Flash Sintering - What We Offer

Flash Sintering - What We Offer

The Flash Sintering group at Lucideon has been developing their Flash Sintering technology, since 2012. A multidisciplinary team of researchers, engineers and consultants have been specialising in the ceramics materials sector. The development of the technology requires high and various skills, from the mechanical to the industrial and electrical engineering.

We are very familiar with the materials and components, operating environments and sintering mechanisms associated with ceramic materials. Our main assets are two fully equipped laboratories for prototyping and a unique 25 meter industrial gas combustion kiln. Its accessible roof and the modular frame allow modifications and adaptations to specific project designs. It can operate at temperatures up to 1200°C in reducing atmospheres.

We routinely provide development and evaluation services to a vast range of industries:

  • Tileware
  • Sanitaryware
  • Healthcare
  • Technical ceramics
  • Composite materials.

We also actively assist manufacturers who want to scale up or retro-fit their systems for the industry. Lucideon's Flash Sintering team has the depth of experience and knowledge to provide:

  • Technical consultancy and implementation
  • Full characterization of material properties for FS technology
  • Electrical testing
  • Thermo imaging
  • Impedance analysis

For most of ceramic firing processes, pilot plant trials are essential in order to determine whether the properties of fired products, or indeed the potential candidates, are of the desired or enhanced quality. Such trials are also crucial to optimize the firing process and are an important precursor to scale-up.

To facilitate such trials, Lucideon can not only offer rental of pilot plant kiln and FS experts, but it can also stage trials at its facility in conjunction with, or on behalf of customers.

The technology is very versatile and can achieve energy savings as well as mechanical properties improvement. For more information about the technology please click here

Our Flash Sintering capabilities are backed up our extensive analytical capabilities, from physical and chemical testing to microstructural and surface analysis, allowing us to fully test prototypes and to prove that laboratory trials and scale up trials will result in successful commercial products.
