Novel Materials Development to Address Dental Sector Needs
In this webinar, hosted by Phil Jackson and Delihta Fernando we explore the important drivers facing the dental industry and discuss the potential roles that novel materials could play as ‘enablers’.
The key focus of the webinar is novel inorganic material types that are being developed during a European Commission funded project - Biodensol. The materials are designed to offer either bioactivity or re-mineralization capabilities and, as such, offer the potential to extend tooth or restoration lifetimes.
Delihta Fernando (one of Lucideon’s three Biodensol PhD students) talks about the materials, two of which are based on sol-gel systems and one on phase-separated glass, and shares the characteristics of each material type discovered to date. She also explore examples of their potential use in different end products.
