Ceram Encouraging Local Students
Ceram is once again helping local students to get their first taste of working life, by offering summer placements to two science students from Newcastle-Under-Lyme College.
The students, Becky Snelgrove and Sian Jones, have been working in Ceram's Building Technology division and Testing division respectively.
Mandy Rymill, Marketing Communications Manager at Ceram, says:
"We are committed to working with local students to help them find a career in the science arena. What we would really like to see is materials science being offered at our two universities; that way, when we're recruiting, we don't have to look out of the area.
"We've enjoyed having Becky and Sian with us and look forward to welcoming more students in the future."
Sunder Sanghera, Career Academies Coordinator at Newcastle-under-Lyme College says:
"Newcastle College is proud to be associated with Ceram and its continuing commitment in offering meaningful introduction to the world of work to students. Sian and Rebecca had to apply and be interviewed for Lab Technician posts so that they could see how physics, chemistry and mathematics is used in a real life working environment."
