Webinar: The Effect of Powder Milling on Performance
Thursday 7 September at 15:00 UK time, 10:00 EDT
In this webinar, Dr Adam Healey, materials scientist, will describe several different milling techniques, the advantages and disadvantages associated with them and discuss a number of case studies where altering of the milling process has been instrumental.
Ensuring a consistent particle size is key to the performance of ceramic components and one of the ways this is achieved is through the informed application of milling techniques. Changing the material particle size alters the response to heat and chemicals, flowability through moulds and homogeneity of the final product.
Multiple milling processes are often used to bring a crushed precursor material from the macroscale to the microscale and beyond, and which milling techniques are the most appropriate for the material are subject to a number of different factors: material properties, output volume and desired particle size for example. Therefore, whilst ball milling may be ideal for some sanitaryware products, pharmaceuticals are often best processed using planetary mills.
Manufacturers can benefit from altering their procedures or even changing their milling technique to improve quality, save time or reduce costs.
This webinar will be of interest to any industry that utilizes powders in manufacturing, from construction and ceramics through to pharmaceuticals and additive manufacturers.
