Lucideon to Open New Healthcare Technologies Office in Cambridge

Lucideon will be celebrating the opening of its new Healthcare Technologies office in Cambridge Science Park with a celebration on 18 November 2015.

The event, which will run from 5 to 7pm at the Trinity Centre, will give local companies a chance to meet the Healthcare Science team and find out more about Lucideon’s innovative range of platform technologies.

Guest speaker for the evening will be Professor Zhen Gu from the Joint Biomedical Engineering Department at NC State University and the University of North Carolina. Professor Gu was recently awarded one of the world’s Top 35 Young Innovators under 35 by MIT Technology Review.

Lucideon is currently working on a number of projects, including inorganic controlled release for drug delivery, bioresorbable polymers, multi-substituted hydroxyapatite for bone repair/replacement and dental applications, and field enhanced processing of ceramics which allows control and tailoring of microstructure to produce tougher ceramics whilst reducing production costs.

Tony Kinsella, Chief Executive at Lucideon, said: “The event is a great opportunity for our neighbours in the Cambridge Science Park and companies in the greater Cambridge area to learn more about our materials technologies in an informal setting.

“We chose Cambridge as the base for our Healthcare Technologies business as we see it as a thriving and energetic science, engineering and business community. This fits in with our mindset that science should not just be done just for science’s sake, but rather it should have robust industrial applications.

“We also have great links with the area: our office will be led by Dr Xiang Zhang, a Royal Society Industry Fellow, and we have worked with, and continue to work with, the University of Cambridge on a number of research programmes.

“We’re looking forward to meeting both near and far neighbours at what promises to be an enjoyable event.”

The Healthcare Technologies team is backed up by an extensive range of analytical capabilities at the company’s headquarters in Stoke-on-Trent and at facilities in New York state and South Carolina. Its product and process optimization experts have experience of technology transfer across many industries.

Lucideon has recently opened a sister office to the Cambridge Science Park site in the Research Triangle Park in Raleigh, North Carolina.
