Lucideon Publishes New White Paper on Inorganic Powders and Structures

Lucideon has published a new white paper titled ‘Low Temperature Routes to Inorganic Powders and Structures’.

The paper, written by Dr Mark Cresswell, Senior Development Scientist at Lucideon, details the differences between traditional and sol-gel methods in the production of ceramic and glass materials, and the benefits of adopting a low temperature route to produce them.

Dr Mark Cresswell said:

“Using low temperatures in the synthesis of materials allows functionality to be added that can’t be achieved at higher temperatures.  One of the main advantages is that organic materials can be incorporated without being degraded due to exposure to high temperatures.

“There are of course trade-offs and developing materials with idealized functions can be challenging.  The white paper discusses the potential applications within the healthcare industry that can be unlocked using low temperature development routes.  These materials are becoming ever more important as the industry seeks to utilize smarter materials and add functionality and compatibility to devices.”
