Refractory Materials, Testing and Design Training Course
In person course
Duration: 3 days | Learner level: Adaptable to suit audience
This three‑day course builds on an understanding of refractory materials and testing to introduce the key principles of refractory lining design. Participants will gain insight into how material behaviour, test data and service conditions influence design decisions, and how different design approaches can affect performance and reliability.
The course provides enough depth to enable informed discussions with designers and modellers, while highlighting the advantages, limitations and common pitfalls associated with refractory design and mathematical modelling.
Skills gained
- Design awareness
- Applied interpretation
- Critical evaluation
- Informed decision‑making
Learning outcomes
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Understand the relationship between refractory material properties and design performance
- Interpret refractory test data in the context of lining design
- Identify key factors that influence refractory lining design choices
- Recognise different refractory design approaches and their advantages and disadvantages
- Participate more effectively in technical design and specification discussions
