Below is a list of recent and forthcoming events at Lucideon, as well as conferences and other events that we have attended or will be attending.

22 - 23 May 2024  Synthetic and Engineering Biology British-Swiss Summit (Bristol & London, UK)
The Synthetic and Engineering Biology British-Swiss Summit is a collaborative venture between academic and industry leaders across the UK and Switzerland, and organised by the Bristol BioDesign Institute (University of Bristol), the Swiss Business Hub UK & Ireland, the BioIndustry Association and Lucideon.
Lucideon's Anike Te will be chairing a panel at the summit on 22 May at the M-Shed in Bristol.
Titled ‘Future perspectives in cell engineering’, the session will include insights from representatives across industry including Rafael E. Carazo Salas (CellVoyant), Oliver Dovey (BitBio), Dorothea Ledergerber, Martin Fussenegger (ETH Zürich) and Andreas Meyer (Ginkgo Bioworks, Inc.). Register now to secure your space.

The leading global event for personal care ingredients. 10 - 14 March 2024  Waste Management Symposium 2024 (Phoenix, Arizona, USA)
Lucideon's Tim Abbott and Enya Collier attended the Waste Management Symposium and our collaboration with NUVIA, MALLET™, was the topic of a presentation by NUVIA's Adrian Davis-Johnston. Based on a paper co-authored by Lucideon's Stuart Maclachlan and Marta Dana Fedorciuc-Onisa, the presentation was about a new, cost-efficient technique for encapsulating Intermediate Level Waste (ILW) which has the potential to revolutionise nuclear waste disposal.

14 - 15 November 2023 SCS Formulate (Coventry Building Society Arena, Coventry, UK)
SCS Formulate is the UK's largest event of its kind, focusing on raw materials, ingredients and formulation services used in creating personal care and cosmetic products. In the exhibition you would have been able to find every conceivable ingredient, raw material and other vital tool of the trade for creating innovative cosmetic and personal care products. 1 - 2 November 2023 Advanced Engineering (NEC, Birmingham, UK)
Advanced Engineering is the UK's largest annual gathering of engineering and manufacturing professionals. The event helps attendees to source new suppliers, network, build connections and learn about the latest industry developments all in one place. Lucideon representatives were in attendance at the event.

18 - 21 October 2023 NASS Annual Meeting (Los Angeles Convention Center, LA, USA)
Our Technical Sales Consultant for Healthcare, Andrew Atisa, attended this year's annual meeting. With over 300 companies and upwards of 2,500 physicians in attendance, the society describes the event as the Super Bowl of trade shows. The society also presented a robust educational programme, featuring surgical, medical, and multidisciplinary sessions that presented the latest issues and trends in spine research.

18 - 19 October 2023 RCI Show (Stadium MK, Milton Keynes, UK)
The RCI Show brings the entire roofing, cladding, and insulation supply chain together. The event allows visitors to compare and source new products, learn from the experts, and hear about the important issues currently impacting the market. Lucideon will be exhibiting at this event and will be at Stand 4.

19 - 20 September 2023 Offsite Expo (Building Society Arena, Coventry, UK)
The event hosted leading UK and international offsite manufacturers and component suppliers who showcased a broad spectrum of panelised, volumetric modular solutions, pod and prefabricated MEP solutions, as well as the latest digital and BIM technology. Lucideon exhibited and took part in the 'Designing for Offsite’ panel discussion session.

19 September 2023    Offsite Awards (Building Society Arena, Coventry, UK)
The Offsite Construction Awards returned to the Coventry Building Society Arena, to run alongside the Offsite Expo. Offsite technology is changing the contemporary built environment - driving forward projects that represent outstanding examples of prefabrication and factory-based methods, products, systems and disciplines. Lucideon sponsored the 'Pioneer of the Year' award at this event.

12 - 14 September 2023 Microbiome Movement – Skin Health & Dermatology (San Diego, USA)
The conference united researchers from academia and industry to address the unique areas of scientific R&D, as well as the consumer interfacing aspect of the skin microbiome industry.

2 - 3 May 2023 Ceramics Expo (Michigan, USA)
Ceramics Expo brought together the global ceramics and glass supply chains to source the latest materials, components and technologies, provide face-to-face networking and business opportunities, and discuss the future challenges and opportunities facing the technical ceramics industry. Dan Cunningham, our Business Manager - Aerospace, Defense & Nuclear (US), featured in the ‘Ceramics in Critical Environments’ panel discussion.

22 March 2023 Advanced Ceramics - Key Materials for Industry Innovations (Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce, Stoke-on-Trent, UK)
Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce and Lucideon hosted 'Advanced Ceramics - Key Materials for Industry Innovations', a half-day event showcasing how advanced ceramics can improve manufacturing processes and product performance.

29 November 2022 Delivering Net Zero for British Ceramics (Keele Hall, Keele University, Staffordshire, UK)
At this new industry conference, recognising the extensive cross-cutting action being undertaken in decarbonising the UK ceramic sector, Mark Dudson presented "Supporting HyDeploy in the Ceramics Sector" - an overview of the 20% hydrogen blend combustion gas firings at Lucideon on safety critical ceramics to investigate headline performance changes.

4 October 2022 Webinar: Hydrogen - Diffusion, Permeability, Hydride Formation and Metallic Embrittlement - A Metallurgical Perspective on Hydrogen Issues. Part 2 - Hydride Formation & Embrittlement
The growing use of hydrogen in the energy industry sets in motion a myriad of metallurgical issues and problems. The metallurgical community has long been dealing with problems associated with hydrogen interaction with metals; from containment in its liquid state at cryogenic temperatures to its burning as a fuel at high temperatures and everything in between. This two-part webinar series deals with some of the more complex metallurgical issues related to hydrogen. Part 2 of this webinar series (this webinar) addresses hydride formation and embrittlement. The dynamics of how hydrogen diffuses and infiltrates into a metal structure is shown. How the reactivity of hydrogen causes hydrides to form and coalesce in critical areas leading to embrittlement is discussed. How embrittlement is evaluated for particular metal systems is also shown. And finally, the preventative measures which can be implemented to prevent hydrogen embrittlement are presented.

6 September 2022 Webinar: Hydrogen - Diffusion, Permeability, Hydride Formation and Metallic Embrittlement - A Metallurgical Perspective on Hydrogen Issues. Part I - Containment, Diffusion & Permeability
The growing use of hydrogen in the energy industry sets in motion a myriad of metallurgical issues and problems. The metallurgical community has long been dealing with problems associated with hydrogen interaction with metals; from containment in its liquid state at cryogenic temperatures to its burning as a fuel at high temperatures and everything in between. This two-part webinar series deals with some of the more complex metallurgical issues related to hydrogen. Part I (this webinar) addresses issues associated with cryogenic containment, diffusion, and permeability. A discussion of cryogenic materials selection and processing is presented addressing proper containment of hydrogen at extremely low temperatures. The nature of hydrogen gas is covered with a discussion revolving around the very small and very reactive nature of the hydrogen atom. It can diffuse through any material and permeate its microstructure. You can’t stop it, but maybe you can slow it down and control it.

Lucideon exhibited at Ceramics Expo, North America’s premier exhibition and conference for the advanced ceramic and glass supply chain. 27 July 2022 New Ceramic Technologies for the Move to Net-Zero (The Gallery, Catalyst Building, Staffordshire University, Stoke-On-Trent, UK)
Lucideon and the Transforming Foundation Industries Network+ hosted the next American Ceramics Society UK Chapter meeting. The focus of this event was on how ceramic technologies can be the solution and catalyst to achieve Net-Zero targets for the Ceramic sector but also more widely as enabling advanced materials. The meeting will showcase current developments and latest progress to address the challenges of de-carbonisation and efficiency improvement. To find out more about the event please click here
21 July 2022 NDA Group Supply Chain Event (The International Centre, Telford, Shropshire, UK)
Lucideon exhibited at this event, which attracts 1700 delegates, providing opportunities to network with more than 300 exhibiting companies. With a particular focus on SMEs, the aim was to attract new business to the nuclear decommissioning sector. To find out more about the event please click here

At this leading ceramics event in the UK, David Pearmain from Lucideon gave a presentation on advanced sintering technologies for energy efficient ceramic processing. Lucideon was at stand number 18-627.

In this free 1 hour on-line session hosted by Stuart MacLachlan, we discussed collaborative innovation, type of support, how the process works, case studies and more. Three presentations were followed by a panel discussion for questions.

27 April 2022 Ceramic Innovation Network (CIN): How to Bridge the Gap from Lab to Product and Teach the Next Generation (University of Manchester, Manchester, UK)
The 2022 Ceramic Innovation Network (CIN) event brought together academics and industrialists from all subsectors of the ceramic industry seeking to explore the challenges of bridging the gap from the lab to product and teaching the next generation.
Speakers included Alex Patrick-Smith from Hinton Perry & Davenhill, Professor Laura Cohen from Manchester University and Royce Institute, Imogen Harding from Ibstock, Sarah-Jane Clelland from Henry Royce Institute, Ajay Kapadia from the KTN, Dr Ahmed Khalil from Exeter University, Professor Ozge Akbulut from Sabanci University and Lucideon's CEO, Tony Kinsella.

10 February 2022 Online Panel Event: It’s a Material World: How Materials Science Education is Advancing the STEM Workforce
To celebrate National Apprenticeship Week 2022, Lucideon hosted a live online panel event, 'It's a Material World: How Materials Science Education is Advancing the STEM Workforce'.
Hosted by Jeffrey Fox, Partnership Development Manager at AMRICC, the panel explored what the current STEM landscape looks like, the importance of education and upskilling, and how both of these things affect students, employers and job seekers alike.
