Balustrade Testing
Even though there is no mandatory requirement to test balustrades in the UK, testing is increasingly becoming commonplace within the industry. Testing balustrades to ensure they are safe is crucial as they can prevent falls form exposed edges at heights. Performance needs to be assessed both before installation and whilst the product is in use.
In the UK, loading limits of free standing glass, post, rail, spindle and infill balustrades are directed by Eurocode 1 and tested to BS 6180: 2011 "Barriers in and about buildings". Our experts test to BS 6180: 2011 in our laboratories or on-site to ensure the on-going performance and safety of balustrade components and complete systems during service.
In addition to balustrades, we also provide testing of staircases, balconies, handrails and glass-reinforced plastic (GRP) products (canopies, chimneys and dormer windows).
