Lucideon Appoints Technical Manager for Construction
Lucideon is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr Paul Wood as technical manager for construction.
Paul holds a BEng (Hons) degree in Civil Engineering with Management, an MSc in Corrosion Science and Engineering and a PhD in Corrosion Protection of Aerospace Alloys. With extensive knowledge of materials testing and materials specification, Paul has over 20 years’ experience working in a wide range of industries, including construction, oil and gas, nuclear, automotive and aerospace.
Paul is primarily responsible for the technical quality of the testing and consultancy work carried out within the construction sector. He is focusing on developing the offerings for the offsite sector as well as the more traditional areas of masonry, structural components, reinforced concrete and cladding systems.
Paul is knowledgeable in the causes of reinforced concrete degradation, and has experience in repair and mitigation techniques, including the use of cathodic protection of reinforcement and externally applied protective coatings. Paul is also experienced in the interpretation of non-destructive testing (NDT) results; ultrasonic testing (UT) and radiography to determine the need for repair or continued monitoring.
In addition to construction materials testing, Paul has developed customized laboratory testing programs for materials in nuclear environments for the MoD and Rolls Royce, in-car materials monitoring programs for Jaguar cars and high temperature exposure and fatigue testing in sour environments for oil and gas pipeline manufacturers.
