Change of Use

We offer both intrusive and non-intrusive structural investigations in order to ensure that your materials, designs and structures are fit for purpose when refurbishing or retrofitting existing buildings for change of use.

When construction plans for older buildings are unavailable, investigations are required to allow new designs to be adopted. These investigations can include a structural stocktake, an assessment of redundant capacity and an evaluation of usable life left in the structure.

Some of the services we offer include:

  • Coring
  • Rebar plotting
  • Structural loading
  • GPR scanning
  • Materials analysis.

When conducting these techniques we consider all substrates, including:

  • Reinforced concrete
  • Masonry
  • Steel
  • Cast iron
  • Timber.

Our experts can develop a full program which covers both sampling and testing to fully understand the building construction. The deliverables from this investigation will include a photographic log, full engineering annotated CAD drawings, a detailed log of findings and UKAS accredited test reports. All of which is crucial when designing a new building application.
