Failure Analysis - Tableware

When something goes wrong with your product or your process, we can help. With over 100 years' experience in ceramics, our team of experts will identify the root cause of failures, of both products in use, and of issues that may occur in the processing line.  We will also work with you to test and validate products and processes when they are in development, reducing failure risks further down the line.

Failures during manufacture can lead to reduced yields, downtime and increased costs.  We work with you to solve the failures quickly ad prevent them from happening again.

We work with the industry to provide characterization and testing of developed products to ensure they're fit for purpose and perform to the best of their ability.  We can bring the same expertise to products in development so that you can ensure that they are right first time and don't fail during manufacture or in use.  While the root cause of failures, both during manufacture and in use, can often be traced back to the materials you are using, some can also be down to your processing steps.  Our team of ceramic process engineers can analyze your production line, identifying where failures are being caused, and suggest remedial actions so that they don't happen again.

Our failure analysis and root cause investigation services include:

  • Fracture, fatigue and rupture diagnosis and microstructure investigation
  • Raw material assessment
  • Characterization of surfaces and coatings
  • Contamination identification
  • Optimization and evaluation of processes
  • Chemical, physical, mineralogical and thermal analysis
  • 3DStrain – digital imaging technologies to characterize strains during testing.

Our consultants will work with you to ensure that products in development are fit for purpose, thereby reducing the risk of failures occurring during use.  And, should failures occur, we'll help you to understand where and why they're happening and suggest remedial actions to prevent them happening again.
