UK ETS for Energy‑from‑Waste

UK ETS for Energy‑from‑Waste - Verification Services

The UK Emissions Trading Scheme (UK ETS) is expanding to include Energy‑from‑Waste (EfW) and waste incineration installations.

From 1 January 2026 until 31 December 2027, operators can take part in a voluntary Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) period. This will give reporters the opportunity to refine their MRV process as the scheme "beds in" and prior to the scheme being part of full Emissions Allowance trading.

Why Lucideon?

  • We have been providing independent verification since the ETS Scheme started, which gives us valuable experience of verification requirements under UK ETS.
  • You will be appointed a dedicated lead auditor, who understands your industry and your concerns, and who will act as your single point of contact.
  • We understand Energy from Waste and the specific processes and methodologies used. No need to “teach” our auditors.
  • Our robust procedures ensure that verification is carried out quickly and efficiently.
  • Where possible, data is verified centrally, minimising time and cost.
  • As a client you are entitled to discount rates on our ETS "The Basics" training courses.
