Lucideon Publishes New White Paper on the Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme
Lucideon has published a new white paper on the Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) following its launch by the UK Government earlier this year. ESOS is a mandatory assessment introduced to address the requirements of Article 8 of the EU Energy Efficiency Directive.
The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) announced the details of ESOS in June and published a guidance document for those affected. Lucideon’s white paper gives a brief overview of this document, extracting the need-to-know details to get organizations started.
In addition to an introduction to ESOS, the white paper also explains what the scheme is, who it applies to, timescales, the main requirements and how to comply. It goes on to explore the various routes to compliance, enabling organizations to decide which the best option is for them, one of which is implementation of the Energy Management System standard ISO 50001.
Shaun Bainbridge, Director, Assurance, says:
“There are a number of routes to compliance but being able to use ISO 50001 is fantastic news for our clients who have already achieved it or are en route to doing so.”
The first ESOS assessment needs to be carried out and compliance reported to the Environment Agency (EA) by 5 December 2015.
