Lucideon to Take Part in Ceramics Expo 2018
Lucideon is pleased to announce that it will be exhibiting at this year’s Ceramics Expo in Ohio, 1-3 May. In addition to showcasing its ceramics technologies, and materials, product and process support capabilities, two members of the team will be presenting at the conference.
On 2 May at 3pm, Tony Kinsella, Chief Executive of Lucideon, will take part in a panel discussion, ‘Promoting the Adoption of Disruptive Technologies by the Industry’, alongside Don Bray, Global CTO Technical Ceramics, Morgan Advanced Materials, Dan T Moore, CEO/Chairman, Dan T Moore Co., and Maricela Lizcano, Research Materials Engineer Materials Chemistry and Physics Branch Materials and Structures Division, NASA-Glenn Research Center. The session will be hosted by Alan Rae, Interim Director, Center for Advanced Ceramic Technology.
Dr Andre Prette, Technical Manager, Advanced Materials and Processing, will be talking about the Flash Sintering of Model Thermal Barrier Coating Systems on 3 May at 1pm. Dr Prette will be discussing how Lucideon’s Flash Sintering technology can be used to address the complex challenges faced when joining dissimilar materials.
Dr Prette said:
“I will be looking at flash sintering on model thermal barrier coating (TBC) systems (ceramic to ceramic, ceramic to alloy), where the electric field applied gives rise to a change in the flash temperature seen in layered model systems in comparison with single-layer ceramics. I’ll also evidence the bonding strength between layers after studying the interface chemistry at the biphasic layer.
“I’ll also be discussing our explorations into how contactless flash allows for ceramic repair of protective coatings and looks toward utilization as inline repair systems in industry.”
