World Ceramics Abstracts Database

Produced by Lucideon Information Services, World Ceramics Abstracts database is a key resource for global information on ceramic materials, processing, properties and applications. The database currently contains over 235,000 abstracts dating from 1978 and is updated with 500 new abstracts each month.

Sectors covered include: Advanced Ceramics, Bioceramics, Engineering Ceramics, Electroceramics, Traditional Ceramics (tableware. tiles, sanitaryware), Raw Materials and Minerals, Refractories, Building Ceramics, Glass and Vitreous Enamels. Coverage also includes Commercial and Economic Information, Statistical Information, Company Activities, Environmental matters, Properties and Testing.

Source materials include a wide range of international publications including industry journals, books and conference proceedings.

Full text copies of articles abstracted in the database can be requested from Lucideon’s Information Centre.

Technical Alerts

Technology Partners can register to receive monthly alert updates selected from a wide range of topic areas relevant to the ceramics industry. This is an excellent way to keep up-to-date and informed on newly published technical and commercial information. An archive of alert updates can be browsed via the Knowledge Base.

A customized alert service matched to your chosen keyword preferences is also available. This service is suitable where you have a more clearly defined interest area that you wish to be kept informed about. When new items matching your keywords are added to World Ceramics Abstracts database, details will be emailed to you each month.

Technology Reports

A searchable database of research that Lucideon (and previously Ceram) have carried out and published on behalf of Technology Partners/Members. Over 1400 current and past publications with access to full text PDF copies are exclusively available to Technology Partners (dependent on package).

Environment & Health

A section dedicated to environmental, health & safety and food contact materials information containing numerous guidance documents and links. These pages also provide access to Lucideon’s Environment Bulletin and Tabletop Technical Bulletin which provide updates on current and forthcoming changes in regulatory compliance, technical standards and reports.

Faults Guide (Ceramics)

The Faults Guide provides an introduction to the most common faults that can occur in the manufacture of traditional ceramic products. The guide covers faults that occur in making, glazing & decoration across the main product types. Faults can occur at any stage of the production, some are due to human error and others are related to technical problems. The guide is in a database format and can be browsed and/or searched.

Library Resources

The library at Lucideon contains an extensive collection of books, journals, standards, reports and conference proceedings, including the largest specialized collection of material on ceramics worldwide. Much of this material can be obtained on loan or copies can be provided, subject to Copyright Regulations. Online resources include major scientific and technical databases, which help us to provide answers to your enquiries. Lucideon’s Information and Library Services are an important part of the support provided to Technology Partners, and also underpins our internal project work.
