The Society of Glass Technology (SGT) Training Day and Conference are to be held at Lucideon's Stoke-on-Trent head office on the 3 and 4 June 2015, respectively.

The ‘Fundamentals of Glass Quality’ training day will explore glass melting and refining reactions, glass fault identification, the importance of raw materials, float glass quality - the impact of furnace operation, and the influence of distributor, forehearth design and operation on glass quality. Aimed at anyone associated with furnace operation, maintenance and design, the course will provide a basic introduction or refresher from a practical and modern perspective.

During the ‘Furnace Solutions 10’ conference, eight speakers from industry will present papers around various topics, including: furnace design optimization, new developments in fused cast refractories, increasing overall glass furnace efficiency, melting and refining of low iron float glass, and heat recovery technology - operating experience from a commercial glass furnace. The conference is useful for glass furnace designers, raw materials suppliers and those involved in the glassmaking process.
