Lucideon Receives ISO 17025 Accreditation for Wear Testing

Lucideon has been awarded ISO/IEC 17025:2005 accreditation for the total wear testing of hip joints.  The accreditation encompasses ISO 14242-1 and ISO 14242-2 standards and was awarded by UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service).

The extension to scope means that Lucideon can offer accredited total hip joint wear testing services.  Lucideon carries out wear and fatigue testing and debris analysis of hip implants in the UK and of knee implants in the USA, the latter facility having just undergone further investment to double its capacity to meet demand.

Dr Qianqian Wang, Biomechanical Engineer at Lucideon, said,

Lucideon’s wide range of expertise and extensive analytical capabilities, including non-contact surface roughness evaluation (3D-Profiling), SEM evaluation and laser diffraction techniques, means that wear testing can be supported by in-depth analysis.  Development work can also be done to go beyond ISO standards and a comprehensive test report is always included to support regulatory submissions.

Lucideon also offers materials development and characterization, regulatory approval testing packages, cleanliness validation, process troubleshooting and failure analysis, using its chemical, physical, mechanical and surface analysis capabilities.
