Dr. Geoff Edgell, Principal Consultant, Construction at Ceram is to present at INFRAASSETS, Putra World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 22nd - 24th February 2011.
Geoff will present "Maintenance and Preservation of Structures"; the presentation will discuss the difficulties of dealing with existing structures in several circumstances through case study examples. The examples include: the material and structural investigation of Waterloo Station mainline viaduct to confirm strength and stiffness in order to accommodate the tunnelling project beneath the foundations for the extended Jubilee Line; the durability of building materials in the renovation of the Round Foundry in Leeds; and establishing the design strength of stonework for Portcullis House in Westminster.
In addition, Geoff will also discuss the issues arising from historic bridge structures and climate change issues affecting the UK housing stock.
The INFRAASSETS 2011 theme "Sustaining Service Life and Value of Assets in a World of Change" was chosen to address asset management issues and solutions across the built infrastructure in one event, and includes industry leaders and practitioners from around the world.
