Ceram to Present the Keynote Speech at the 59th Clemson Brick Forum
The 59th Clemson Brick Forum, South Carolina, USA, 30 September to 2 October 2013, is organised by The National Brick Research Centre.
Dr Andrew Smith, Head of Sustainability & Construction Materials, has been invited by the National Brick Research Centre’s Director, John Sanders, to present the keynote speech at this year’s Forum.
Andrew’s presentation, “Making Environmental Claims; Help or Hindrance when Selling Bricks?”, will discuss the UK and European experience of the Environmental Product Declarations, the associated Product Category Rules, Carbon and Water Footprints, Product Environmental Footprints (a new European initiative) and Resource Efficiency Roadmaps for the ceramic (including brick) sectors.
During the presentation, Andrew will also discuss Resource Efficiency Action Plans and how they fit in to the bigger picture, along with supporting Environmental and Energy Management Systems (ISO 14001 and ISO 50001) requirements for ‘continual improvement’.
The presentation will conclude with the ‘Circular Economy’ and how all of the mentioned elements fit within this model.
