Ceram Strengthens Its Medical Devices Team
Ceram is very pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Xiang Zhang to the post of Principal Consultant for Medical Devices. Xiang will lead the growing team of expert consultants for this important area, responsible for both business direction and capability development.
A materials scientist, Xiang undertook his PhD and postdoctoral research at Cranfield University where he studied micro-mechanics and micro-fracture mechanics of toughening plastics. After spending a further four years on polymer research for industrial applications, Xiang was awarded a fellowship at the University of Cambridge in 1995. Xiang's industry experience was gained at Medisense, Abbott Laboratories, where, as Principal Scientist, his work covered almost all aspects of medical devices from R&D and manufacturing support to failure analysis and QC. Prior to joining Ceram, Xiang worked as Director of Cambridge NanoTech, in the field of nano conductive materials and diagnostic medical devices.
Speaking about his appointment, Xiang commented: "I am excited to be joing Ceram at a key point in their business development. This is a significant centre of expertise for materials testing and consultancy for the medical devices sector, recognised globally and highly valued by many clients. I'm proud to be part of that and to lead the team forward."
John Hines, Ceram's Director of Consultancy, added: "The demand from our clients for expert guidance regarding developing, testing, improving and supporting medical devices is increasing in this current economic climate. Xiang is a significant addition to our team, bringing not only world-class technical ability but also highly relevant industrial and commercial experience."
