Lucideon’s Client, Longcliffe Quarries, Wins LCRS Award

Lucideon is pleased to report that one if its clients, Longcliffe Quarries, has won ‘smaller fleet operator of the year’ in the 2015 Logistics Carbon Reduction Scheme (LCRS) awards which recognise the efforts LCRS members are taking to reduce carbon emissions from freight activity.

Longcliffe Quarries, located in Matlock, Derbyshire, is one of the UK's largest producers of high quality calcium carbonates and delivers over 5000 tonnes every day through its fleet of 40 HGVs. The company was praised by the LCRS judges for its initiatives to reduce carbon emissions which included fitting Engine Management Satellite Tracking systems to all vehicles so the variables of fuel consumption can be monitored and improved.

Longcliffe also enlisted a local training company to provide and assist in safe and fuel efficient driving. Currently, two drivers are being trained to NVQ level 3 in workplace coaching and instruction to provide ongoing training and support to all 45 drivers in the Longcliffe fleet.

International sustainability assurance provider, Lucideon, has worked with Longcliffe for over 10 years and has independently certified its management systems and manufacturing operations to a number of internationally recognised standards including ISO 9001 (quality management), ISO 14001 (environmental management), ISO 50001 (energy management) and BES 6001 (responsible sourcing of construction products).

Tim Watts, Operations Manager, Assurance at Lucideon, said: "Having worked with Longcliffe for a number of years we know that they are fully committed to limiting impact on the environment. This award bears testament to their continued work to reduce carbon emissions."
